The 2007 New Zealand Golf Course Superintendents Association
Distinguished Service Award

(proudly sponsored by Prebbles Turf World)

This award is presented in recognition of outstanding service to the Golf Turf Industry within New Zealand. It is an award that is not presented lightly and one that this Association presents only after a great deal of consideration on many levels.

The 2007 recipient of the NZGCSA Distinguished Service award is Layne Young. Bruce Lowe Prebbles Turf World presents the Award.

Layne is presented the award by Bruce Lowe

Layne has been involved in the turf industry for a very long time and has served both the Regional Association as well the National.

At regional level he was Secretary for approximately 5 years and is once again filling that roll. He was also President for 2-3 years. He helped put together the very successful 1991 National Turf Conference in Auckland at the Waipuna Hotel and Conference centre.

At National level Layne was President of the NZGCSA for 3 οΎ½ years and was also involved in a number of other initiatives including:

Revamp of the Trainee of the Year 1997-98.

Instrumental in creating the position of Administration Officer for the NZGCSA.

On the Board of the NZSTI.

1999 and 2000 Layne was chairman of the ITO.

On the Governance group for both the National Conferences held in Rotorua.

Author of 29 articles for the Golf Gazette

It is clear to see that Layne is truly dedicated to this industry and a worth recipient of the award.
