GLUME. A pair of empty, scalelike, bracts at the base of a grass spikelet.

GRUB. The larva of a beetle.

GUTTATION. Plant sap which appears as drops at the ends of leaves, usually on moist, cool nights. It resembles dew and is often confused with it. Guttation water contains nutrients which may favour fungal growth.

GYPSUM. Hydrated calcium sulphate, or a mineral high in calcium sulphate.
