Field days
The NGCSA has had two field days this year hosted Sherwood Park Golf Club and Carrington Golf Resort.

Sherwood Park Golf Club
In June we had our AGM/Field day at Sherwood. It was hoped to receive an update from Superintendent Kelly McConnell on his management, benefits and problems with their fairway watering system after several summers’ usage. Unfortunately, Kelly was ill on the day but following the AGM we took a course walk with Alex Glasgow NZSTI and had discussions on fairway grass selections best suited for individual budgets and sites. A good day was had followed by dinner that night.

Carrington Golf Resort
In September we visited Carrington hosted by Superintendent Sinclair Hogan. Rob Green from Chemplas explained interpretation of water test results and Kevin Adams reminded us on the importance of machinery maintenance. Sinclair also showed us the changes he is undertaking on the course.

For Northland standards we had an impressive turn out. It was commented on by many that it was the first time for quite awhile there where more greenkeepers than trade. Thanks to everyone for making the effort.
