The NZGCSA along with the Australian Golf Course Superintendents Association (AGCSA) in association with John Deere are delighted to announce the launch of The Players Championship (TPC) Volunteer Program.
In March 2020, one NZGCSA member along with three members of the AGCSA can secure a once in a lifetime opportunity to be involved in the '5th Major', thanks to the generous support of John Deere, by heading to Ponte Vedra Beach in the United States next March to join the Course Management team and help prepare the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass for The Players Championship.
TPC Sawgrass is home to The Players Championship, golf’s unofficial fifth major, with the 2019 event returning to its traditional March date after 12 years of being hosted in May. The shift in 2019 and 2020 will see the Course Management team undertake very different challenges to that of preparing the course in May, and this is your chance to be a part of it.
The selected NZGCSA candidate along with the three AGCSA candidates will join the maintenance team for the duration of the Players Championship on the PGA Tour, with travel, accommodation, meals and uniform all included.
How To Enter The Players Championship Volunteer Program
Stage 1 - Register your Interest
· Applicants are required to complete the form below to register your interest and ascertain your eligibility.
· Once eligibility has been verified, details will be sent to applicants by email regarding the requirements for Stage 2.
Please note that applicants need to be 21 years of age or over, and be allowed to enter into the USA.
Stage 2 - Formal Application
Applicants will be required to submit a short video, of no more than 3 minutes in length, details of the format, content and how to lodge your video application to the NZGCSA will be provided following successful completion of Stage 1.
The deadline for registering your interest is Friday May 31st 2019, and all Stage 2 videos must be received by Wednesday 31st July 2019.
Stage 3 - Interview
The application videos will be assessed and rated by John Deere, and shortlisted candidates will be notified, and attend a interview during October 2019.
The successful NZGCSA candidate will be notified by the 30th November 2019.
The New Zealand and Australian representatives will arrive into the USA on Friday the 6th of March, and join the TPC Course Management team for this outstanding career development opportunity before departing for home on the 16th of March.
Once the selected candidates arrive at the venue they will be provided with the following
· Course Uniform each day
· Transport to and from the TPC Sawgrass Golf Course
· All meals during the stay
And on the Monday Morning after the championship, you will all get the opportunity to play the famous 17th hole in a nearest the pin competition the winner taking home the genuine flag from number 17.
