The Pukekohe Golf Club is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join the course maintenance team as an apprentice greenkeeper.

The successful candidate will possess the following attributes and experience:

· A thorough understanding of the game of golf.

· Green-keeping experience or experience in a similar field.

· Basic mechanical knowledge.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Greenkeeper to join the Grow-In team, to assist the development of our new golf course, to complement our 27-hole champion golf course.

Overview

Set over 500 acres of lush green fairways, rolling hills and gentle streams, Millbrook Resort is an internationally acclaimed, luxury lifestyle resort with a 27-hole champion golf course, and we are proud to be an employer of choice within New Zealand.

The objective of the Millbrook Dalgleish Farm Development project is to ensure Millbrook Resort's golf course delivers an exceptional golfing guest experience.

The Role

The role is key in assisting the completion the project to schedule, as well as, quality the construction and grow-in phases of the golf course during the development of a new 9 holes. The role is fixed term for around 6 - 9 months, however, there is opportunity to gain permanent employment, once the development of the golf course has been completed.

Success Profile

·       Qualification in Sports Turf Management Certificate Level 4 (minimum) with experience in golf course construction and grow in maintenance preferred

·       Essential to have widespread agronomy knowledge and skills

·       Knowledge with irrigation operation, and drainage installation

·       Experience with golf course and landscape machinery and equipment use and maintenance

·       Competent in Agrichemical application activities, and record keeping with relevant qualifications/experience

·       Full clean NZ Drivers Licence

·       Capability to work outside standard working hours to suit the nature of this role

·       Excellent work ethic, and must be physically fit to carry-out manual handling tasks

Head Greenkeeper

Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club is an 18-hole golf course situated on linksland 45mins north of Wellington. Hosting 12 NZ Opens, the course regularly features on World Top 100 lists and is considered one of the finest links courses in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Club is seeking the services of a suitably qualified applicant to fill the soon to be vacated position of Head Greenkeeper. The role reports to the dual position of Course Superintendent/General Manager but has a good deal of independence, managing day to day operations. This is a great opportunity to assist in the management of this world class facility and to help lead and direct a small (4 staff) but progressive greenkeeping team.

The successful applicant will be hardworking, reliable and genuinely passionate about turf management. They will be expected to possess strong leadership qualities, an ability to motivate, manage and direct staff, sound turf management knowledge, a keen eye for attention to detail and they must be accomplished at all facets of greenkeeping. Assistant Golf Course Superintendent (2IC)

North Shore Golf Club is situated in Albany, on the North Shore of Auckland New Zealand and is an attractive 27-hole complex reputed to be the busiest golf club in the country. Averaging around 87000 rounds of golf per year, and with a healthy membership, we have an opportunity for growth for a keen Turf Professional to join our management team.

Auckland’s North Shore has become a much sort after area for jobs, housing, schools and raising families. Being the gate way for the picturesque Northland frontier, the North Shore hosts spectacular beaches, natural scenery and has been the ideal destination to get away, and yet only remain a hop skip and a jump from the hustle of the city.

North Shore Golf Club is going through positive on course change with on-going development to improve the golfing experience for all players and remain one of Auckland’s Premier Golf clubs. With so many quality golfing facilities within the North Harbour Sporting precinct, North Shore Golf Club stands out as a unique 27-hole test for players of all abilities.

The golf club is seeking to employ a Turf Professional with an enthusiastic work ethic who harbours a passion for agronomy, team building, operational acumen and the game of golf.

The successful candidate

The successful candidate will be a detailed and process driven individual who has the confidence to implement and plan accordingly:

  • Minimum 5 years as a Qualified Tradesman with no less than a Certificate IV in Sports Turf Management

  • Strong leadership and team building ability

  • Punctual, well presented and professional at all times

  • The ability to troubleshoot situations quickly and effectively

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Good computer skills including the use of the Toro Lynx Irrigation Operating system or equivalent including the use of MS Office Suites

  • Good understanding of relevant OHS and Environmental regulations

  • Good understanding of pest and disease management

  • Confidence in leading toolbox meetings

  • Report writing

  • Keen eye for detail

Desired Skills

Other skillsets that would be advantageous include:

  • Some Golf course construction experience

  • Experience in the operation of large and small excavation equipment

  • Irrigation Operation, installation and maintenance experience

  • Experience managing small and large work teams

  • Experience with ryegrass playing surfaces

  • Experience with Poa/browntop and creeping bent grass firm putting greens

The successful candidate will lead the Maintenance Team and will, alongside the Superintendent, be one of the main conduits between Club Management and the Maintenance Team through clear and concise communication.

GREENKEEPER – SOLE CHARGE

Lincoln Golf Club (www.lincoln.co.nz) is a challenging picturesque and well prepared 9 hole course situated on Boundary Road in the University town of Lincoln, Canterbury, 20 minutes from Christchurch City. The Club currently has a vacancy for a Greenkeeper - Sole Charge – to manage the maintenance of the golf course, in accordance with the golf course operational plan. The support of club volunteers is available at peak mowing times and at other busy times such as coring.

A recognised qualification in Turf Management is desirable.

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

· General greens keeping and golf course maintenance duties.

. Maintenance and correct use of the course’s computerized irrigation system, including the calculation of irrigation requirements.

· Safe and efficient operation and basic maintenance of all mowing and renovation equipment.

· Setting up the course for daily play

· Bunker maintenance.

Applicants should possess a professional attitude, a full clean NZ Driver’s Licence, good communication skills and the ability to work unsupervised.

The position requires work for a minimum of 40 hours per week and additional hours as required. Some weekend work is involved and the successful applicant must be available to work Saturday and Sunday shifts as required.
