Situated on 32 hectares, the sizeable and impressive Ngā Puna Wai Sport Hub combines facilities for a number of sporting disciplines - including an athletics track, hockey turfs, and outdoor tennis courts and sports fields.

This brand new sports hub is the first of its kind in Christchurch, and as such we need a talented leader to ensure the development and maintenance of the sports turf at this premier facility.

You will provide leadership and day to day management of this small, dedicated team. Using your demonstrated experience in sports turf operations, in addition to leading your team, you will effectively and efficiently programme sports turf maintenance activities, have oversight of and contribute to renovation programmes and manage the preparation of sports fields for events.

As one of the largest schools in the country, Avondale College's grounds must be presented to a level commensurate with that of a preeminent school. We are looking for a motivated Turf Manager or Horticulturalist to take full responsibility for the green space management of this prestigious school. As Head Groundsman, it will be your responsibility to maintain the school grounds to the highest standard. The salary will reflect qualifications and experience.


You will be responsible for all aspects of maintenance of the sports fields, cricket wicket, hard surfaces, lawns and gardens. You will liaise closely with the school’s property manager on day-to-day priorities; and will report to the General Manager at Turftech. You will have a good working relationship with other grounds managers within Turftech, making sure this pool of expertise is used to enhance your experience and the school’s environment. We are looking for someone who is prepared to put in the work required to present the grounds to a level a school of this calibre deserves.


· Maintaining the gardens/hedges, lawns and pathways

· Maintenance and management of the live turf cricket wicket

· Sports field maintenance, including mowing, fertilizer and chemical applications, and disease recognition and treatment

· Presenting the live turf and artificial sports surfaces to a high level for sports fixtures

· Sports field line marking

· Co-ordinating seasonal renovations of the cricket wicket and sports fields with Turftech’s renovation team

· Working closely with the school’s management to ensure all grounds maintenance duties do not have a negative impact on school operations

· Management of your assistant groundsman

· Reporting on a regular basis to both the school’s and Turftech’s management teams

· Working within a set budget determined by the management teams concerned


· A great attitude and work ethic

· A relevant horticultural qualification and/or suitable experience in managing green spaces

· Cricket wicket knowledge beneficial, however it’s not a necessity, as training and support will be provided

· A Growsafe certificate, or the ability and desire to add this qualification to your skill set

· Good written and verbal communication skills

· The ability to manage and be responsible for a budget

· Initiative and drive to do the best for the customer

Full Time Greenkeeper

Gulf Harbour Country Club, host of the 1998 World Cup and 2005/06 New Zealand Open are seeking two full-time positions to be filled by either labourers, 3rd year apprentice or qualified greenkeepers.

Gulf Harbour is located 25km north of Auckland on the picturesque Whangaparaoa Peninsula, the new owners and management team are set to initiate extensive redevelopments to the ocean side course and club house, to bring it back to its former world championship standard.

These include a range of course upgrades from drainage to irrigation to raise the profile of GHCC. Assistant Superintendent - Waitemata Golf Club

Waitemata Golf Club based in Devonport, Auckland are seeking the services of an experienced/qualified greenkeeper to join our small team of 3.

The role is very hands on and would suit a hard-working, enthusiastic individual. Royal Auckland and Grange Golf Club - Qualified Greenkeeper

The Royal Auckland and Grange Golf Club is one of the most exclusive private member golf clubs in Auckland, New Zealand.   We are currently looking for a suitably qualified and experienced Greenkeeper to join our golf course Agronomy dept as we embark on a very exciting journey of redevelopment with the Nicklaus Design Team.   Over the next three years’ our famous courses will be transformed into a world class 27 hole facility which will also include a brand new agronomy department and workshop.  In addition to this, a world class landscape architect company from the US has been commissioned to work in collaboration with the Nicklaus design to develop a landscape masterplan.  To this point, we are looking for an experienced and qualified Greenkeeper.

Established in 1894, the Club has a proud and long history and is excited about our upcoming construction phase.  We are looking for a positive individual who sets very high standards, is a team player, embraces change and will help mentor our Junior staff.

The successful candidate will poses a passion and understanding of turf management practices as well as a strong understanding of turf maintenance equipment and the following attributes:

This is a fulltime hands-on role which includes weekend work on a roster basis to complete course maintenance.

Titirangi Golf Club – Mechanic / Equipment Technician / Greenkeeper

Titirangi Golf Club is situated in west Auckland and an opportunity has arisen to join our turf management team.  Titirangi is New Zealand’s only Alistair McKenzie designed golf course and is consistently ranked in the country's top 10 rated golf courses. The club has a large modern fleet of machinery and equipment along with a regular capital equipment replacement schedule.

This is a newly created role and would suit an individual with an automotive background that is also looking for a change in being able to work outdoors as part of the position. The successful applicant will have experience and good understanding of petrol (primarily) and diesel engines. There is training available for specific tasks required by the position.

This is a fulltime hands-on role which includes weekend work on a roster basis to complete course maintenance.

On average 3 days per week will be a mechanic role with 2 days a greenkeeper role out on course.

Ideal Skill Criteria:

·      Servicing, repairs & routine maintenance of outdoor turf mowers & equipment and small to midsize tractors

·      Can do attitude with problem solving & fault finding initiative

·      Physically fit for manual handling required for the position and prepared to work outside in all weather conditions

·      Honest and reliable with good communication skills

·      Understanding of workplace health & safety requirements and reporting

·      A team player that works well with others and on their own
