Golf Course 2IC Position

The Manawatu Golf Club (MGC) is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the position of 2IC.

MGC is an 18-hole private members’ golf club situated in the suburb of Hokowhitu, Palmerston North.   The Club is home to 900 members and the course attracts approximately 40,000 rounds per annum.  MGC is midway through a course maintenance plan which includes the renovation of tees, maintenance of trees; this is in conjunction with other Club improvements which are all focused on MGC becoming the ‘golf club destination of choice.’

About us:

The Wellington City Council Sportsfield team are responsible for the management of all Sportsfield facilities in Wellington and provide high quality playing surfaces for the sporting and recreational community in the Wellington region.

The role:

The Sportsfield Technician is a multi-disciplined role that is primarily assigned to help manage the maintenance and delivery of all operational aspects associated with Artificial Surfaces and the Berhampore Golf Course. The Sportsfield Technician will report directly to the Head Greens Keeper/ Artificial Surface Specialist.

Core elements of the role includes the following:

·        A Level 3 Turf Qualification or equivalent years of experience

·        Having an eye for detail

·        Ability to work unsupervised

·        Good understanding of Health and Safety

·        Excellent communication skills

·        Have a Full HT (not essential) and clean NZ Driver's Licence with manual driving skills

Experience with operating ride-on mower/tractors will be an advantage but is not necessary.

About you:

To be considered for this role you will be qualified at Level 3 in Turf Management (or equivalent years' experience), have a high level of initiative, be motivated, take ownership and work both individually and as part of our team. You will also need to have a calm, friendly disposition and enjoy working with our customers providing exceptional customer service. Naturally you will have a 'can do' attitude.

3ic/Course Foreperson required

Wainui Golf Club is embarking on a number of key projects to achieve all year round game play. These projects range from drainage, irrigation and sand capping installs, as well as the day to day course operation.

These exciting new projects require a number of staff to complete, with suitably qualified and experienced individuals to manage these projects. The staff levels have been achieved, we now need the added experience and expertise to drive these projects to their completion.

With the diverse range of projects, a well-founded skill base will be required.

·      Health and Safety management

·      Working with and managing small/large teams

·      General course maintenance

·      Drainage installation (Preferred)

·      Construction experience (Preferred)

·      Digger operation (Preferred)

Should you have the required experience or looking to make the next step in to this role (reference to support), this could be for you. These projects will be ongoing for a number of years, and will require a long term view from the applicant to fill this role.

A competitive remuneration between $50k-60k dependent on experience.

Team Turf - Artificial Turf Installation Technician

Work with a small close knit team in a growing industry, that is, supplying and installing artificial turf!

The customer base is interesting and varied. Deal with schools that are installing a new multi sport synthetic surface, a hockey field, a playground surface, a cricket wicket or perhaps even a synthetic grass soccer or rugby field. Installing tennis court surfaces at tennis clubs and private homes, this role will keep you on your toes and provide plenty of different varied tasks from one day to the next!

The installation technician we are looking for will:

·      Be a team player

·      Work well with others in our installation team

·      Have excellent attention to detail

·      Enjoy working outdoors

·      Be happy to multi-task when required

·      Want to continually improve their skills

·      Preferably have some synthetic turf or carpet installation experience

·      Be willing to travel outside of Auckland on a project by project basis if required

The role includes:

·      Setting out measurements onsite

·      Rolling turf out and positioning in place

·      Gluing seams and joins

·      Cutting and gluing all line markings

·      Use of machinery to install sand and rubber infill

·      Laying foam underlay on some projects

·      Other associated tasks as required

You will need to be practically minded and a passion of sport would also be advantageous.

Royal Wellington Golf Club founded in 1895 is situated in Heretaunga, Upper Hutt.  Royal Wellington offers extensive facilities together with its Championship 27-hole golf course and is set in a picturesque setting alongside the Hutt River.  The club prides itself on the highest quality, a strong membership, historic championship tournament and a very bright future for the golf course, staff and members / guests.   
The Club currently has a vacancy for an “Equipment Technician”, to join the golf course staff to assist in the maintenance of all golf course equipment with some green keeping duties also expected when needed. 
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following: 
 Greens Shed Maintenance
 Daily Equipment Servicing
 Equipment inspection and Diagnostics
 Record Keeping on all Equipment
 Operation of Grinding Machinery
The position requires work on a rostered basis for a minimum of 40 hours per week and additional hours as required.  Some weekend and holiday work are involved and the successful applicant must be available to work Saturday, Sundays and Public Holiday shifts as required.

Turf Manager/Specialist - Helena Bay Lodge, Northland

An opportunity has become available for a Turf Care Specialist/Manager to join a competent team of horticultural staff working under our new Head Gardener, all working to ensure Helena Bay Lodge continues meets world class resort standards. We require a member of staff who can advise on, tailor and implement a maintenance plan for large and varied expanses of lawn across the resort. The role would be predominantly focused on lawn restoration and upkeep.

Essential qualities:

·      Minimum of 5 years’ experience in horticultural industry

·      Qualified to Level 4 Turf Management

·      Knowledge of maintaining top level lawns and greens to the highest standards

·      A high level of competence with modern greenkeeping equipment and chemicals

·      A keen eye for presentation and detail

·      Have own reliable transport due to location

Preferred but not essential qualities include:

·      A working knowledge of machinery/workshop tools

·      A good level of competence with modern irrigation systems

·      Experience and knowledge or ornamental sward construction and renovation

·      Background in maintenance of soft landscape

·      Grow safe and approved chemical handling qualifications

·      Wheels, Tracks and Rollers certificate along with Heavy transport license

A competitive salary is on offer and to be negotiated. Working week will be Monday to Friday and will include occasional weekend work. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Gardener and colleagues to continue forward momentum and improvement of this resort; ensuring we meet the very highest standards. Applicants for this position should have NZ residency, NZ working rights, or a valid NZ work visa. The successful candidate will be entitled to 4 weeks’ holiday per annum and statutory public holidays.
