Assistant to Greenkeeper

A part-time position, 20 hours per week. Hours of work may vary each day depending on season and weather.

We are looking for a fit and healthy team player who has excellent communication skills, a can-do attitude and a dedication to quality.

Must have a full driver’s licence and be competent in the operation and maintenance of a wide-range of sports turf machinery and tools such as tractors, ride-on machines and specialist hand mowers. Other routine tasks include mowing, clearing debris and the use of chemical treatments to control weeds, fungal diseases and pests.

Success Profile

· Essential to have widespread agronomy knowledge and skills Knowledge with irrigation operation, and drainage installation

· Experience with golf course and landscape machinery and equipment use and maintenance

· Competent in Agrichemical application activities, and record keeping with relevant qualifications/experience

· Full clean NZ Drivers Licence

· Capability to work outside standard working hours to suit the nature of this role

· Excellent work ethic, and must be physically fit to carry-out manual handling tasks

Your primary role will be for implementing grow-in and course maintenance activities with the grow-in staff and ensuring the key result areas are met. This role requires being able to positively work outdoors and varying hours to accommodate the nature of golf course construction and maintenance activities. This position will report directly to Golf Construction Grow-in Manager

Success Profile

· Agronomy or landscaping experience preferable but not essential

· Experience with machinery or manual power equipment an advantage

· Full clean NZ Drivers Licence

· Capability to work outside standard working hours to suit the nature of this role

· Excellent work ethic, and must be physically fit to carry-out manual handling tasks

Helensville Golf Club - Assistant Course Superintendent

Following the internal promotion of our 2IC to Course Superintendent, we have a vacancy to fill his position as 2IC, in what will be a new team at Helensville.

This is a salaried position paying between $55,000 and $60,000 depending on qualifications and experience with extra payments for weekend work.

Helensville is a Parkland Style 18 hole golf Club, with around 600 members, located 30 minutes from Auckland CDB

Required attributes:

· Qualified to Level 4 National Certificate in Sports Turf Management or equivalent

· Grow Safe and Approved Handlers certificate

· Drivers Licence

· Mechanical knowledge of green keeping equipment and irrigation systems with a good understanding of Health and Safety requirements pertaining to golf course works

· Excellent communicator and able to work unsupervised

· Highly motivated, enthusiastic, attention to detail and punctual

The applicant must be able to start their working day at 6am (Summer) and work a maximum one in two weekend roster
Applicants must have the right to work in NZ.
The ideal candidate should enjoy the dynamics of being part of, and prepared to contribute to a focused team, but also capable of self management, with a passion for the game of golf.

The Karori Golf Club is a long established and profitable golf club that owns and operates a full 18 hole course and a 10 hole pitch-and-putt course in South Makara, about 7km from central Karori, one of the western suburbs of Wellington. The club has a vacancy for a qualified green keeper who would work as part of a 3 person team along with the Course Superintendent and an apprentice. 

The successful candidate will ideally have the following attributes and experience:

• Chain saw experience
• Mechanical aptitude
• A commitment to safety and sound HSE practices
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, able to work as part of a team
• Common sense, initiative, a cheerful disposition and a strong work ethic
• Drivers licence

This full time position will see you working in Coatesville, Auckland on our iconic 56 acre private property. Joining our small and friendly team, the applicant will primarily be responsible for all turf areas (approx. 30 acres of varied grasses) and will co-share with our other gardener, general landscaping and gardens.

Professional skills required

1. Demonstrated experience in turfcare management incl fertilisation, spray, grooming, irrigation etc

2. Ability to use all agricultural equipment safely and always comply with NZ H&S requirements

3. Current Grow Safe and Approved Handlers certificates preferred, although we will support these courses for the right candidate

4. Sound, proven knowledge on care and maintenance of agricultural equipment

5. Clean drivers license

Reporting directly to the Course Superintendent, the successful applicant will be responsible for servicing a fleet of turf equipment and other club assets, as well as involvement in replacement programs for plant and equipment.

Responsibilities include; maintenance of machinery and equipment, record keeping and some golf course maintenance. The successful applicant will have knowledge of diesel and petrol engines. Knowledge of golf course equipment an advantage but not essential.
