Royal Auckland & Grange Golf Club - Qualified Greenkeeper

The Royal Auckland and Grange Golf Club (RAGGC) is a private member golf club in Auckland, New Zealand. We are currently looking for a Qualified Greenkeeper to join our Agronomy team.  We would also consider a 2nd or 3rd year trainee if they are looking to broaden their training opportunities at a leading turf maintenance facility with an impressive inventory of specialist turf machinery and equipment. 

RAGGC is a 27-hole facility with three (3) separate 9-hole courses.  We have 34 bentgrass greens on the property along with approximately 2.5ha of bentgrass tees and over 20ha of couch grass fairways. We also have exciting technology such as SubAir, Better Billy Bunker, Rainbird irrigation, moisture management systems (Pogo), Human resource and consumable tracking software (Task Tracker), drone technology and of course extremely high-quality turf.    

Since 1894 our golf club has a proud and long history and has recently completed a major rebuild project. Our playing surfaces are world-class, and we are looking for a positive individual who wants to learn new skills under a team of very accomplished turf managers. Our entire agronomy team at RAGGC operate with very high standards and have a very high attention to detail. Our large team have excellent communication skills and value our team ethics. Our colleagues have enormous pride in our workmanship but always take the opportunity to have fun and enjoy each other’s company. Any new staff member must have a similar outlook. Candidates must have pride in their workmanship, must be a team player, be able to embrace change and have a desire to grow professionally. 

We DON’T expect candidates to know everything! However, we DO expect candidates to ask questions and want to learn.

We currently have a vacancy for fulltime, qualified permanent greenkeeper at Kauri Cliffs Golf course. We are looking for an individual who enjoys working within a team environment but also excels working on their own. Reliability is a key attribute and prepared to work 40-50 hours per week over the busy summer season (including every 3rd rostered weekend).  Duties will include hand mowing greens and tees so applicants must have a good level of fitness, Other duties but not restricted to include, chemical and fertilizer applications, moisture monitoring, golf course set up and other general golf course duties.

GREENKEEPER POSITION

Applications are invited for the position of Greenkeeper Morrinsville Golf Club. 

Morrinsville, situated 35 minutes' drive from Hamilton, serves one of NZ’s most prosperous dairy farming areas. Following covid and a surge in residential development our club is experiencing a steady increase in players.  

Our course is challenging and picturesque. We are reviewing course structure with the goal of developing a long-term development plan. The club has a range of course machinery including Toro, John Deere, Kubota and Jacobson. This primarily sole charge position is an opportunity to progress in the field of turf management. The appointee must be capable of working alone and efficiently personally undertaking all daily work tasks on the course. The appointee will also have responsibility for overseeing and working with a part-time employee and volunteers who assist regularly with course work. 

The appointee will have: 

  • Formal turf qualifications relevant to golf course management.

  • Current experience and qualifications in chemical application on golf courses or similar.

  • Established experience in the operation and maintenance of turf related plant and equipment. Experience in developing new greens and tee blocks would be useful.

  • Knowledge of the operation of tee and greens irrigation systems.

  • Ability to develop, document and implement short- and long-term goals and daily coursework programs.

  • Understanding and practical observance of Health and Safety requirements and reporting.

  • Sound written and computer skills.

  • Proven ability to work with, guide and motivate a team of volunteers, a part time employee and contractors.

  • A resilient personality able to congenially interact with members while working on the golf course.

Green Keeper/ 2IC - Marlborough Golf Club

The Marlborough Golf Club is a ‘must play’ course at the top of the South Island, nestled in the beautiful wine region of Marlborough.

Marlborough Golf Club has a strong and passionate membership of over 500, a welcoming and friendly atmosphere with a fully equipped clubhouse and proshop facility, catering for members and visiting players.

We invite applications for a newly created position of course Greenkeeper / 2IC to assist our current Head Greenkeeper, along side a team of volunteers, to help deliver on both day-to-day operations and importantly, our long term strategy of course development and progression.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a newly qualified or junior greenkeeper, who is willing to progress and develop their turf management career.
You will play a key role in creating and maintaining Marlborough’s premier golf course and protecting our wonderful heritage.

The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years experience working on a golf course.

  • Level 4 Sports Turf Management qualification preferred or near finishing.

  • Competent understanding of best practice turf management in a golf course scenario.

  • Proficiency in using and maintaining relevant equipment and machinery.

  • Ability to work independently, or as part of a team and can demonstrate strong leadership skills with both staff and volunteers.

  • Great eye for detail to ensure Marlborough Golf Club is maintained to the highest standard possible.

  • Effective time management skills and prioritising tasks.

  • Knowledge of multiple irrigation systems would be an advantage; however training can also be provided.

  • Reliable and hard working attitude.

  • Have good understanding of health and safety obligations in the work environment.

  • Good level of physical fitness.

  • Holds a standard Growsafe qualification (preferred but training can be provided if not)

  • Valid full NZ Driver license.

Marlborough Golf Club offer a great working and supportive environment with membership included for the successful applicant. This is a fulltime position, with the successful candidate expected to work 43 hours per week, Monday to Saturday. Wage rate between $28 - $32 p/h dependent on experience.
