Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out spray application programmes across the golf course in accordance with established schedules, best practice, and environmental standards.

  • Assist with the preparation, calibration, mixing, and application of agrichemicals and fertilisers.

  • Maintain accurate records of spray applications, chemical use, and related compliance documentation.

  • Assist with irrigation management, turf health monitoring, fertility programmes, and pest and disease control.

  • Perform a wide range of golf course maintenance tasks, including mowing, bunker maintenance, course set-up, and presentation work.

  • Operate and maintain turf machinery and spray equipment safely and effectively.

  • Assist with course improvement projects and seasonal renovation programmes.

  • Monitor turf conditions and identify potential issues relating to disease, pests, irrigation performance, and turf quality.

  • Work closely with the Superintendent and Course Maintenance team to deliver exceptional playing conditions.

  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.

  • Contribute to maintaining the high presentation standards expected at Tieke Golf Estate.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in golf course maintenance and/or spray application.

  • Current GROWSAFE certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Sound understanding of turfgrass management, agrichemical application, and golf course presentation.

  • Experience operating turf machinery and maintaining high-quality playing surfaces.

  • A turf qualification (Level 3 or higher preferred).

  • Strong attention to detail, a positive attitude, and pride in producing high-quality work.

  • A willingness to work early mornings and occasional weekends as part of a roster.

Desirable

  • Level 4 Sports Turf qualification.

  • Experience with spray programme planning and calibration.

  • First Aid, or other relevant industry certifications.

Course Superintendent - Hukanui Golf Club

We are looking for a Course Superintendent to manage our 9 - hole golf course.

This is a sole charge full time position. The successful applicant will report directly to the club President and will manage the course in conjunction with the Course Committee maintaining the course, plant and equipment.

Key attributes required:

  • Recognised NZ Turf Qualification. Minimum of Certificate in Sports Turf Management Level 3.

  • Have a good understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace environment.

  • Have a Growsafe Standard Certificate (or equivalent).

  • Work well unsupervised.

  • Be reliable and have a conscientious “can do” attitude.

  • High level of attention to detail and good time management skills.

  • Have a valid New Zealand driving licence.

Waiheke Golf Club is seeking an experienced and motivated Golf Course Superintendent to lead the presentation, maintenance, and ongoing development of our unique island course. With our long‑serving Superintendent retiring 31 March 2027 we are starting the search now to secure the right person to fill this unique role. There will be a planned 2-to-3-month transition to ensure continuity is maintained for our members and the new Course Superintendent is well established in both the new role and lifestyle on the Island. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of managing a well‑established community course set in one of New Zealand’s most stunning coastal environments.

The Island is 35 minutes by ferry from downtown Auckland, and the Club is located 15 minutes from Matiatia Wharf Ferry Terminal and 5 minutes from Onetangi Beach, opposite popular Vineyards that draw tourists from the mainland throughout the year. Role Overview

This is a full‑time, hands‑on, lead from the front role responsible for all aspects of course maintenance, turf management, staff supervision, seasonal planning and mechanical maintenance. The Superintendent role is supported by a full time Apprentice Course Superintendent and 0.4 FTE Mechanic. The Course Superintendent is expected to manage day to day operations working largely autonomously keeping the committee informed regularly on progress against plans. You will be supported with the Course Committee and Club leadership to ensure high‑quality playing surfaces year‑round, members expectations are being met and long‑term course aspirations are being advanced.

Limited relocation support is available. Accommodation is not included.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily course preparation and presentation

  • Turf, soil, and agronomic management

  • Staff leadership and coordination of volunteers

  • Machinery operation, maintenance scheduling, and contractor liaison

  • Irrigation management and water‑use planning

About You

Essential:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with a relevant qualification, or 8+ years without but currently working in golf turf management

  • Strong practical agronomic and turf management knowledge

  • Experience leading small teams and volunteers

  • Growsafe Level 4 Certificate

  • Proactive, practical, and collaborative working style

Preferred:

  • Approved Handler certification

  • Experience in golf course construction (greens, tees, fairways)

Methven Golf Course Green Keeping Position.

Methven Golf Club is looking for a suitably qualified and experienced person preferably close to or holding level 3 or 4 qualifications for our 18-hole course situated just outside Methven township and only a short distance from the famous Mt Hutt Ski Field.

This is a full-time position that offers up-and-coming Greens Keepers experience at one of Mid-Canterbury’s most popular golfing venues for members and the many visitors we host annually.

We are looking for a passionate individual who will drive excellence within our small team and help to deliver a high-quality course, with top-class playing surfaces through best practice maintenance activities.

We are looking for the following skills and attributes:

  • Experience leading volunteers and able to fit into a small vibrant team.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of turf management and agronomy including formal qualifications such as a recognised turf diploma/certificate, including relevant spraying expertise.

  • Experience in planning, maintaining and consistently delivering a well-presented golf course to tournament standards.

  • Knowledge and experience with assisting to develop and efficiently manage a budget including establishing and implementing asset management programmes.

Cricket Preparation Specialist  - Groundsperson
High Performance Indoor Cricket Centre

Wellington Central – Full Time - $30-$37 per hour

Mexted Sports Turf is looking to recruit a skilled Cricket Preparation Specialist/Groundsperson as part of our broader Wellington city team that also looks after the Basin Reserve and the Wellington College grounds.

You will be based at the High-Performance Indoor Cricket Centre on the campus of Wellington College, where your primary role will be preparing and maintaining wickets for the teams that practice there, under the guidance of our Contract Manager.

The job involves flexible working hours to meet the requirements of opening and closing the facility for users seven days a week, with back up support from other members of our Wellington team.

We are looking for a person with a flexible attitude, strong communication skills and a calm, approachable manner to deal with the pressures of the day-to-day running of this busy facility.

You will also assist in preparing and maintaining wickets at the Basin Reserve, and assist in seasonal sports turf preparation and maintenance for summer and winter codes at the adjacent Wellington College including mowing, line marking, topdressing, fertiliser application, decompaction and seasonal renovations.

The successful candidate will have the drive, enthusiasm and expertise to deliver exceptional pitch preparation for both professional and community cricket.

You’ll be working closely with cricket teams at all levels, so the confidence and ability to communicate clearly and positively with stakeholders is a must.

Key responsibilities: 

  • plan, prepare, monitor and maintain cricket wickets;

  • work closely with cricket teams, coaches and grounds staff to ensure wicket conditions align with usage requirements;

  • conduct regular maintenance of the high-performance cricket facility, including mowing, rolling and irrigation;

  • manage and control wicket preparation resources, including tools, equipment, and materials;

  • keep detailed records of pitch conditions and maintenance schedules.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has at least two years relevant experience

  • Holds a relevant qualification

  • Takes pride in presentation and pays attention to detail

  • Is physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions

  • Is able to operate plant and equipment safely and competently

Remuera Golf Club is seeking a motivated and passionate Team Leader – Spray Technician to join our course maintenance team and play a key role in the presentation and continued development of one of New Zealand’s busiest premier golf clubs.

This role is one of three Team Leader positions within the Course & Environs department, working collaboratively under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent.   • Assist in coordinating, leading and carrying out spray application programmes across the golf course

  • Ensure all spraying and maintenance practices are completed safely and in accordance with health and safety requirements

Qualified Greenkeeper - North Shore Golf Club

Position Objective:

To ensure that the grounds within the North Shore Golf Clubs boundary are maintained to the highest possible standard at all times.

Position Description and Duties:

The position of Qualified Green Keeper will maintain the boundaries within the North Shore Golf Club to the highest possible standard at all times while continually adding value as a senior staff member to the Foreman (3iC), Assistant Superintendent (2iC) and Golf Course Superintendent.

This will be achieved by:

  • Assisting in all areas of the day to day grooming of the golf course. Including mowing all areas of the golf environs, bunker development and maintenance, assisting with course renovations and to assist with other duties as required

  • Proactively implement and apply designed programs to all surfaces

  • Assistant in the Management of the Volunteer effort and work closely with this group to deliver high standards of presentation

  • Assist in the management of the Irrigation systems and componentry being able to program irrigation applications where needed

  • Gaining satisfactory knowledge on all plant and machinery used on the course and to use it in a correct and safe manner so as not to injure yourself or work mates

  • Carrying out basic maintenance on all machinery as directed by the Course Mechanic

  • Reporting any damage to plant and machinery immediately to the Course Mechanic, 2iC or the Course Superintendent

  • Being self motivated and in some cases working unsupervised

  • Being available to work extra hours when required including a rotating roster for weekends

  • Being polite and courteous to club members

  • Wearing (at all times) and maintaining staff uniform

  • Leading by example by exemplifying professionalism and showing less experienced staff on how to manage yourself as a tradesperson

  • Take control and lead from the front with high level work practices when working on project works

  • Be an influential senior staff member with apprenticed staff and teach with a high degree of empathy

  • Provide a good eye for detail and look for on-going improvement relating to set up and presentation for the golf course

  • Be proactive and become a leader in self education and increase your knowledge in all facets of the business

  • Assist in the management of contractors providing guidance and supervision where necessary

  • Liaise with all levels of Club Management including Proshop Manager and staff, Golf Operations Manager and Assistant, General Manager and Club Administrator where necessary

  • Administer the Course Closed Policy of the club when required

Hawke’s Bay Golf Club is seeking a motivated and passionate Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team and play a key role in the continued development and presentation of one of the region’s most respected golf courses.

Located in the heart of Hawke’s Bay, our course is undergoing an exciting period of improvement and investment including irrigation upgrades, turf management enhancements, bunker renovation, and strategic course development. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced turf professional looking to take the next step in their career within a progressive and supportive environment.

Working closely with the Golf Course Performance & Sustainability Manager, the successful applicant will assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of daily course maintenance operations while helping drive high standards across all areas of course presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the daily management and coordination of course maintenance operations

  • Support the implementation of turf health, fertility, and pest management programmes

  • Supervise and lead greenkeeping staff and volunteers

  • Assist with spray programmes, irrigation management, and machinery operations

  • Monitor course conditions and assist in strategic turf management decisions

  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in accordance with health and safety procedures

  • Assist with course preparation for club competitions and tournaments

  • Contribute to ongoing course improvement and development projects

About You:

We are looking for someone who is passionate about turf management and committed to delivering a high standard of course presentation.

You will ideally have:

  • A qualification in Sports Turf Management (Level 4 or equivalent preferred)

  • Experience working on a golf course maintenance team

  • Strong knowledge of turf agronomy, irrigation systems, and machinery operation

  • Chemical handling certification or the ability to obtain one

  • Leadership capability with the ability to motivate and guide staff

  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving

  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic
