Syngenta’s Women in Turf Scholarship 2024

In association with the NZGCSA, STANZ and ASTMA

Syngenta Turf & Landscape is proud to announce the continuation of our annual Women in Turf Scholarship. This educational opportunity is the result of a partnership between Syngenta Turf & Landscape ANZ, the New Zealand Golf Course Superintendent Association (NZGCSA), the Sports Turf Association of New Zealand (STANZ), and the Australian Sports Turf Managers Association (ASTMA).

The Women in Turf Scholarship award will be presented to one winner, who will receive an allexpenses paid trip to attend the annual ASTMA Turf Conference 2024, this year taking place in Brisbane, Queensland – Australia.

The ASTMA National Conference for 2024 will be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, Southbank, QLD - from Monday 17th June 2024 to Thursday 20th June 2024. Details at www.astma.com.au/conference/

Scholarship Award:

The scholarship award will be presented to one winner, who will receive an all-expenses paid trip to attend the 2024 ASTMA Turf Conference in Brisbane, QLD - Australia. The winner will also receive a small-group training session on plant protection products. Focusing on understanding target pests, weeds, and diseases in greater detail with Dr Brett Morris, the Syngenta Technical Services Manager for Turf & Landscape ANZ.

The scholarship includes:

  • Return airfares from New Zealand to Brisbane, Australia

  • Full conference registration (including daytime meals)

  • Accommodation in Brisbane for 4-5 nights (including breakfast)

  • All sanctioned ASTMA Turf Conference Events (including conference registration)

  • Syngenta Evening Events (including dinners)

  • Small-group training session on plant protection products with Dr. Brett Morris

The process:

In order to apply for the Syngenta Women in Turf Scholarship 2024 you must complete all of the following by Friday 19 April 2024:

  1. Complete and submit the application form via LINK HERE - All questions are compulsory. If you require more information, please contact phil.gould@syngenta.com

  2. Advise your manager/organisation that you are applying for the scholarship.

  3. Provide a recommendation letter of nomination from your organisation to be sent to phil.gould@syngenta.com with the subject "Application: Syngenta's Women in Turf - Scholarship 2024".

Please note that if you are the successful winner, you will require time away from work to attend the conference and the training sessions. The deadline for your application is Friday 19th April 2024. Application answers will be shortlisted by the judging panel. The three (3) shortlisted candidates will be notified by the late April and invited to an interview via video conference. And the final winner will be notified after the interview process is completed.

Eligibility:

To be eligible for the Syngenta Women in Turf Scholarship 2024 you will need to:

  • Be actively engaged in Turf Management in New Zealand

  • Be a current NZGCSA or STANZ member

  • Have at least 2 years’ experience working full-time in the turf management industry and be currently employed in a professional turf management role such as: golf course, sports field, open space management, race course, etc.

  • Have a valid passport and be legally allowed to travel to Australia
